My first Novel
Well i am biting the bullet thanks to a lovely lady artist whom i met through copyright corner as she was a featured artist and i won one of the competitions she was running there Gaynor Lewis. Gaynor introduced me to NaNowrimo short for National Novel Wrinting in a Month. Here you sign up and write a novel in one month using a minimum of 50.000 words. Seeing as i write short stories and poems, i thought i would give this a try and yep starting 1st November until 30th November i will be attempting to write my first completed novel. I have already started 2 novels in the past 8 years but i have never got round to finishing them so if i can manage the novel writing next month then i will then finish the other 2. I will post extracts of the novel i write next month for you to read but you will not be able to read the whole thing unless i get it properly published which is my aim. So keep your eyes open for the sample extracts i leave on here for you to read. I would like to hear your views on what i write as well so please do not be afiraid to leave comments as this will only help me create a better piece of writing.
Snowglobes
I learnt how to make snow globes a couple of years ago and I think they are great, you can make them for any occasion. This tutorial is one I wrote myself and it is how I learnt how to make them.
You need a PSP programme, you can get a free 30 day trial here
My globe which you can download here extract into your picture tube file
my base which you can get here extract into your picture tube file
My snow tube which you can get here extract into your picture tube file
and a background you can use one of your choice but you can download one of mine if you wish too here extract into a folder of your choice I save mine to my pictures folder for easy access.

Ok open a new image 400 x 400 ( you crop the size down later on).Make sure you have transparency checked. now open up the snow globe tube by clicking on the picture tube icon in the left hand menu and choosing the snow globe tube.
Click any where on your new image and place the snow globe tube. Now add new raster layer naming it Background now using the browse button in the top menu find where you saved your background and then get up your back ground in a new window ( to do this just double click the image and it will show up). now in the window with your background in choose the selection tool
and choose circle and draw a circle on the background on the part you want to use. Then click on edit then copy then click on the image where the globe is and then click edit and then paste then paste as new image. You should now have a circle roughly the same size as the globe. Now click the deformation tool in the left hand menu ( it looks like a grid)
and using your mouse move the picture into the globe making sure it goes to the edge of the globe, now go to your layers palette and move Raster 2 down to under Raster 1. The globe should now be on top of the picture.
Ok now you need to add a new raster layer, naming it base (making sure you move this layer to above raster 1 so you should have picture (raster 2, globe ( raster 1) then base (raster 3) from bottom to top in your layers palette if not then just drag them up or down to where they should be) and then click on the picture tube icon(as shown above) in the left hand menu and find the base, then click on the image with the globe and picture and add the base. Now using the deformation tool (as shown above) move the base to the bottom of the globe and place it on the globe. As shown below and now choose a colour of your choice and then using the flood fill tool, fill the base with the colour. At this stage you can if you want go to effects then 3d effects then inner bevel and choose bevel 11 in the drop down menu with the settings of your choice to get the effect you want.
Now add new raster layer and add any wording and copyright needed if you use the picture I gave the link for above the copyright goes to corel.com as it is part of the PSP 9 programme. Now what you need to do is click on the crop tool and crop the image so there is hardly any space around it but not so you lose any of the globe. Then go to layers in the top menu and then merge, merge all merge all flatten.
Now you need to duplicate your globe so you have 3 windows open to do this just click shift d 2 times. Now open up the snow tube in your picture tube file in the left hand menu. Now add some snow to each of your globes making sure you do not go over the edge of the globe. Try not to go to mad with the snow though lol. Ok now save each one giving them a name for example globe 1 globe 2 and globe 3.
Now open up your Animation Shop programme and click on the animation wizard.(if you are nto familiar with Animation shop then please take a look at my Adding sparkle tut, it will show you how to do the next steps). Do not worry too much about each setting for you just need to put a speed of 35. Now making sure you have added the images in the right order click on next, when your animation has been set up click on view then animation in the top menu and see how your globe looks, if you are happy then just click the save icon and save it, you will go through the optimisation wizard, make sure your selector on the left is set to the top and then you are done. You should have a globe like this.

Then click on the paint brush tool and choose + square 05 and draw some antennas on the head, Now click on the layers palette where the body is and add an inner bevel with the settings as shown below, then do the same for the head.
Then you need to go into layers in the top menu, then choose merge, merge all visible, Then click on the save icon in the top menu, then name it, then save as a png image..
